Azure Well-Architected Framework’s 5 Pillars

The Azure Well-Architected framework offers a collection of Azure best practises to facilitate the development and delivery of excellent solutions. The Five pillars of Azure Well-Architected Framework are a set of guiding principles for developing and deploying high-quality Azure applications. Regardless of the scenario’s infrastructure, budget, or vendor, some universal themes are applicable. Following are the Five Pillars of Azure Well-Architecture Framework:

Cost Optimisation Pillar

This pillar assures the most efficient use of the organization's funds. For each project, the customer first receives a preliminary cost estimate that outlines the transfer or redevelopment of available resources. In addition, the vendor undertakes frequent cost evaluations to check the feasibility of the charges and see if anything may be revised.

Operational Excellence Pillar

This pillar provides total insight into how an application operates. This way, the vendor and client ensure that users find the best experience post migration. By assuring operational excellence, businesses are also able to accelerate their development and release cycles.

Performance Efficiency Pillar

Performance efficiency guides you on how to make your workload effectively meet the demands placed by the users. Here, the vendor aligns the available resources for an application with client demand. It includes scaling resources, optimizing potential bottlenecks, and optimizing various systems for best performance.

Reliability Pillar

During the migration, the system is intended to sustain availability despite minor issues. The infrastructure restarts operation during partial network disruptions, allowing it to accommodate isolated failures. This pillar's principal objective is to make the system accessible to end-users.

Security Pillar

The Security pillar is concerned with safeguarding data and systems, limiting access (Identity and Access Management), recognising possible security risks, and minimising the effects of security events. It also covers safeguarding the application and data against network assaults and authenticating them.

Azure Well-Architected Review Process

Customer Experience inside the Azure Well-Architected Review

Prior to the review

  • 1-2 days of internal processing time are required to generate the WAR Report. The review report gives a picture of the workload's alignment with the well-architected framework. On the basis of audit results, a 2-hour report walkthrough giving recommendations/remediation plan for upgrading the cloud architecture for the selected workload. Create a prioritised roadmap based on the five major pillars of the Azure Well-Architected architecture and agree on the next stages with customers.
  •

On the Day of Review

  • 3 to 6 hours of an on-site or remote Well-Architected Review (WAR) workshop that is interactive. Using Azure Well-Architected Tool, our Azure specialists undertake in-depth analyses of selected workloads and verify compliance with the five pillars of Azure WAR. On the basis of the evaluation and audit, we identify some possible improvement areas and quick cost-cutting solutions.
  •

Prior to the Review

  • The client prepares information according to specifications and determines task priorities (s). CDWT schedules a review and invites the necessary parties (IT/business representatives and an Azure-approved consulting partner).
